LEE CHAPEL AME CHURCH

Welcome
“We’re the church with the open doors as well as open hearts.” Our vision is to love, enlighten, and empower all people. Lee Chapel A.M.E. Church was organized in 1898. The church was born out of a cottage prayer meeting. Lee Chapel provides a family environment where all are welcome to worship God the Father, The Son, and the Holy Spirit on one accord!

We are excited that you are visiting our Website and would love to have you join us for Worship services. We believe each person has gifts from God which can be utilized to advance His Kingdom.

When we read books on a specific topic, we should know something about the author that provides insight to his or her analysis and beliefs of the topic. Therefore, this 'About Us' section is not from a parishioner but from me, the pastor of Lee Chapel. A country girl at heart raised in a rural area of South Carolina. I recall the days of delivering dinners to the sick and shut-in after my mom cooked. I remember how the members of the church helped each other build homes and barns along with babysitting each other's children. In a nutshell, I know what Christian love feels like.

My predecessor, Rev. Kevin Cooper, pastored Lee Chapel for 15 years and the pastor before him, Rev. Donald E. Newberry, Sr., pastored Lee Chapel for 50 years. Then I was appointed pastor; the first female pastor of Lee Chapel. The members of Lee Chapel welcomed me and my family. I knew they were dealing with mixed emotions and they spoke fondly of their previous pastor and the first family. When I heard their love for them while they showed me and my family love, it showed me, if I was ever appointed to another church and if I earned their respect and love, they will always speak fondly of me and my family as well. At the heart of the Lee Chapel family is love.

We have excellent cooks, we love to fellowship and have good laughs, and we love our children. This is us; This is Lee Chapel African Methodist Episcopal Church. The church with the open doors...as well as the open hearts.
