I n times like these, where the pot of racism has been stirred causing things that were seemingly stuck to the bottom of the pot, life can be like a bitter pill. However, I am thankful that as Christians we can taste and see that the Lord is good. In times like these, where we have seen so many senseless killings, I am thankful I can go to God and pray for our black men and women. In times like these, when some struggle with dementia and can't fully understand this pandemic, I am thankful that God allows them to hold onto their memory that God is Alpha and Omega; the beginning and the end. In times like these, when those who are single, living alone, and unable to freely visit with family and friends, I am thankful for software developers who developed Zoom and FaceTime. In times like these, when some are dealing with the loss of a loved one, and unable to give them a homegoing service with all their family and friends, I am thankful that Jesus said, "Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted." In times like these, when parents are trying to work and homeschool their children, I am thankful for the stronger bonds between parent and child. In times like these, when we seem to be facing a new normal, I am thankful for every breath I take, and every opportunity I have to worship. In times like these, my sisters and my brothers, we cannot deny reality and we cannot deny the power of the Holy Spirit. In times like these, be encouraged. As God said to Moses, God says to you, "I AM That I AM".

Sometimes we need help and encouragement to keep the faith. Keeping the faith is not always easy. But, having just the size of a mustard seed goes a long way. This is a picture of a vase that I have in my home filled with palms from previous Palm Sundays. Palms that were waved, palms that were prayed over and palms that I cherish. It may seem odd to hold on to them. I thought about throwing them out, but I just can’t bring myself to do it. I am so thankful that I still have them because this past Palm Sunday, I didn’t have a palm to wave but in my heart, as I looked at these palms, I waved them again in my heart as I recalled the gatherings and the shouting of, “Hosanna!!” Sometimes we need to hold on to things that bring us peace. It is not that we idolize them; but it can be that one thing that reminds us of how awesome God is. How God loved us so much that he gave us His only son and that whosoever believes in Him shall not perish but have everlasting life. The Word of God will help you to keep the faith. Look around you. What do you see to help you keep the faith especially during this time?
